What is the #Neopets Guild about?
This guild is based on the EFnet IRC channel #Neopets.

What is IRC?
IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat.  IRC networks are like communities, and are made up of several servers linked together. You can get on IRC by using an IRC client to connect to a server for that network. Three of the oldest and largest IRC networks are EFnet, Dalnet, and Undernet.  Our guild uses EFnet.

What do I get for being a member?
Well, we don't bribe people to join our guild.  However, guild members enjoy lots of things like trivia, contests, giveaways, discounts at the guild shop, help with Neopets, and more!

How do I increase in rank?
Going up in rank is very simple. Our ranking system follows the ranking on IRC. All new members start off as Guest.  Once you have posted a message to the message board, or chatted with us on IRC, you may be moved up to Chatter. After we get to know you better, a council member may decide to promote you to Voice, which means you also get the mode +v in #Neopets (Your name will show up with a + next to it on IRC.).
The highest level members can reach is ChanOp. We only give out this rank once we know you very well, since this rank has a lot of power.  When you're moved up to ChanOp, you also get +o (Operator status. Your name will show up with a @ next to it on IRC.) status in #Neopets.  This means you have the power to kick, ban, op, deop, voice, and devoice people, as well as set the #Neopets topic. This rank is only awarded to the most active, and trustworthy members.

How does the Wishing Well work?
Every other Sunday, the Wishing Well will grant one wish made during the previous two weeks. To submit a wish, just send a neomail to npguild_event. Please put "Wishing Well" as the subject of your mail. 

If your wish isn't granted the first time, just make your wish again. :) Being an active guild member improves your chances of having your wish granted. Also, wishes for extremely expensive items such as Faerie Paint Brushes or Rods of Ultranova probably won't be granted.

How does the Biweekly Puzzle work?
Every other Sunday (when we're not doing the Wishing Well), we will put a new puzzle up on the main page of the guild website. These puzzles could range from things such as mystery pictures, to riddles, to even algebra problems. When you've figured out the answer, just neomail it to npguild_event.

Typically, only the first person that solves the puzzle will win a prize.  However, sometimes we will allow up to three winners.

Can I be on the guild council?
Normally, all of our council positions are filled. When positions are open, we announce it, and members are allowed to apply for the position. Being an active guild member, and providing a detailed application telling us about yourself, and what you would like to do for the guild, will improve your chances of being accepted.

Can I post advertisements for my shop in your message board/channel?
Yes, as long as you don't do it very often.  Perhaps once a day on the message board, and once every couple hours on IRC, at the most.  We do not tolerate spamming, or posting advertisements for other guilds.
